Display mode

Kapptivate opens in light. If you watch monitors late, sit next to a wall display, or simply prefer a dark desktop, you can switch the whole interface to dark from your account preferences.

Switch the interface to dark

Click your workspace name at the top of the sidebar and select Settings
Open Preferences under My account
In the anchor menu on the left, click Display mode
Select Dark

The interface changes as you click. There is nothing to save here: the Save changes button covers the date format and the language on that page, not the display mode.

The three options

Option	What you get
Light	The default. A light interface, whatever your computer is set to.
Dark	A dark interface, whatever your computer is set to.
Auto	Kapptivate follows your operating system.

Auto reads the appearance setting of your system: System Settings > Appearance on macOS, Settings > Personalization > Colors on Windows. Switch your system to dark while Kapptivate is open and the interface follows right away, without a reload.

Your choice stays on this browser

The display mode is stored in the browser you set it in, not on your Kapptivate account. Open the application on another computer, in another browser, or in a private window, and it starts in light again. Set it once in each browser you work from. Clearing the site's browsing data also resets it.

Pick Auto in each browser you use, and your operating system decides everywhere, once and for all.

Wall displays keep their own switch

Status Details has a TV mode with its own day/night switch in the top bar. That switch wins over your display mode for as long as the page stays in TV mode, so a light wall display and a dark interface for yourself work together without conflict. The choice travels in the page URL, so a link pinned on a screen reopens with the theme it was saved with. Leave TV mode and the page goes back to your display mode.
